Board of Directors – Minutes  

Meeting March 11, 2008

Call to Order by President Jeanne Lawrence at 8:30 p.m.

1.  Prayer – Steve May

2.  Roll Call – Present:  Jeanne Lawrence, Ron Guerra, Pete Kowalski, Holly Kromer, Steve May, Charlie Murray, Fr. Marty Nassr, and Sister Mary Jon Wagner.  Absent:  Fr. Phil Feltman, Fr. Chris Kardzis, and Jack Altenburger

3.  Reading/Approval of Minutes of FEBRUARY 20, 2008

• Board minutes from February 20, 2008 were approved

4.  Action Items

          No action items at this meeting

5.  Old Business

• Minutes: Consensus was that we would begin posting minutes to the website starting with our March minutes after approval from Board.
• Stewardship: Consensus at our February meeting was that the Board   recommended that ad-hoc committee should be reformed and expanded to evaluate input from the parish groups.
• The Annual Meeting that was held right before the Board meeting was discussed.  While attendance was off due to re-scheduling consensus was the meeting is a good way for various committee members see other members outside their committee.

6.  New Business

      A.  Board Retreat -Jeanne

• Tentative date set for Friday, August 1st, from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm to be hosted by Steve May at the Catawba Island Club
• Everyone is to check calendar so we can confirm at next meeting

      B.  Establishing Various Reporting – Holly 

• Much discussion surrounding the need to improve tracking and reporting of communication/feedback, from parents, the community and staff.  Consensus was that the Board is very interested in finding ways to be more “in touch” with what is happening in our school community so that they are not “surprised” when something is brought to their attention.
• Keep this topic in “old business” going forward until consensus can be reached on the best ways to accomplish this goal.

7.  Pastors’ comments

Fr. Marty discussed various topics of interest from all three Parishes; including a reminder about tri-Parish Penance service, continued progress by Fr. Dave Nuss on the Life Teen program, Lighten Up Ministry at St Mary’s mission on April 9th and 10th, and the fact that both SPPS and HA both hope to have summer Seminarians this summer.

• Superintendent’s report

Sr. Mary Jon updated the Board regarding matters involving enrollment, personnel matters, update on the Technology, Catholic Identity and Development committees, and the continuing accreditation process.
